Rosie is our infamous, oh-so-excited, always expressive, tiny super diva intern at Amelia Biscuit Company - her face is EVERYWHERE at the store. She's always watching!! She's also our little Christmas Star; we sometimes call her our 'furry baby Santa' since her birthday is December 25th, Santa's big day. She sometimes acts like she's the greatest gift to us too, our little sugar plum fairy that we should shower with gifts everyday - Apple & Cinnamon Treaty Bites, squeaky rubber chickens, chicken feet, and stuffed creatures, to name a few of her favourite things. But unlike Santa, Rosie isn't always full of good cheer, she can get a little snarky when she isn't getting enough attention, and she isn't always good at giving or even letting people shop at the store: she's fine with customers paying for items they like but she thinks they should leave the items at the store, for her. She gets really upset when fun toys and yummy treats go into shopping bags and walk out the door. She turns into a Boston Terrier Golem - these treats, those toys, that dog gear, it's all MY PRECIOUS!!! When it comes to business sense, she's on the naughty list for sure, but when it comes to her heart and the endless affection she has for her family and friends, she's definitely at the top of the nice list.
Because her birthday is on Christmas Day, Rosie has two gift recommendations. She gets really angry and feels rather gypped if we give her just one big gift for both occasions, anyone with a Christmas time birthday knows this feeling. But if your pooch doesn't have a holiday birthday, then think of Rosie's gift suggestion as stocking stuffers and then the main gift. We call it "Santa Paws Best Goodie Bag" and it's jam packed with things that will make your pup howl with delight.
The stocking stuffers includes:
Lobster Stars & Canes Cello (With Rosie's tag, of course) $4.50 each
Carrot Cake Mini Bones Cello $4.50 each
Earth Rated Poop Bags, 8 rolls $6.99
Invisible Boot, by 100% Natural For Pets, $8.99 each
Melissa's Aloe, assorted products starting from $12
The big gift includes:
American Classic Plush Dog Toys, various sizes and creatures, starting at $8.99
Fresh Breath Bites $9.99 -10.99 each
This & That Canine Co. 'Chew This' Antler, size medium $16.99
Missing Link Hip, Joint & Coat Supplement, various sizes $22.99 - $34.99
Mix 'n Match Holiday Snack Pack (you pick your treat combination from select items in the bakery case), $10 - $12.99 each
Jumbo Holiday Bone $6.50 each
Rosie's stocking stuffers are things she thinks dogs should have everyday. Every dog should too! First, great, healthy, crunchy treats are a must! There's Lobster & Maple, with her lovely face on the tag, and there's Carrot Cake, with her buddy Amelia's photo. Second, everyone must stoop and scoop, and this should be a 'green' as possible. Earth Rated poop bags are biodegradable, and come in Lavender scented or unscented. Third, pup skincare is a must during long, cold, snowy Canadian winters! The Invisible Boot is a great product for dogs that don't like to or don't need to wear footwear, but still need some protection from salt and dry skin caused by the deep cold. Melissa's Aloe Creme is great for dry noses, ears and bellies. It calms down raw, sore and inflamed skin, and is great for scratches, callouses, and cracks. Rosie's Grandma even uses Melissa's Aloe products, making it a great gift to share or give to a human!
The big gift contains things Rosie has on her "always good to get" list, many are her everyday essentials too. She's all about that healthy pooch lifestyle! Fresh Breath Bites and This & That Canine Co. Antler Chews are great for keeping teeth and gums clean and healthy, and satisfy that need for chewing. Rosie is always ready for photo op, she's our little Cindy Clawford, and she loves to show off those pearly whites too! The Missing Link Hip, Joint, & Coat supplement is great for dogs of all ages, since it targets the nutritional gap between what nature provides and what is available in commercial foods. It is especially beneficial for those who have had injuries, surgery or have issues with arthritis in their senior years. It has glucosamine, and Omega 3 & 6 fatty acids, which helps to maintain healthy skin and coat, as well as joint flexibility. Rosie highly recommends this supplement! Rosie had knee surgery as a puppy, and was starting to have issues with pain and inflammation. But now, on the supplement, she's able to run around with Dad and play football in the yard, or play tug-o-war with her Boston buddy Benny for over an hour without a whimper or a limp.
Rosie doesn't have any giftwrapping suggestions, largely because she doesn't want you to take these things from her store! You should pay for them, but leave them on the shelf, and come look at them when you need to. But if you absolutely must take them home and wrap them, then Rosie would say keep it simple.
As for giving this year, Rosie thinks you should look at Homeward Bound Rescue. They are a great Canadian rescue and they help bully breeds find their furever home. In order to do this, they need donations, volunteers and foster homes. Check out their website! Oh and come into the Amelia Biscuit Company store in Paris and pick up one of their calendars for a $10 donation. All proceeds go directly to the dogs they help. Rosie WILL let you buy this and take it from the store: she already has one in her crate at home, she knows the calendar is for a good cause, and since she cannot play with it or eat it, she is okay with people taking it home.
Just a reminder, the Amelia Biscuit Company store in Paris is open every Sunday until Christmas, 11am - 4:30pm. Pop on in for your pet needs and wishes, and you just might see one of our biscuit girls in the store picking out items for their Christmas wish list.
At Amelia Biscuit we bake the happy into healthy dog treats ... for the holly, jolly, Howliday Season!!
